don't be charmed to avoid being disappointed..
One day, I received a sample of Chopard Oud Malaki from Ozon. The bottle was broken, but the aroma had permeated the box and was so amazing that it stuck in my head and I was constantly itching to buy a larger bottle.
While I was thinking about it, Black Incense Malaki came on sale and I decided to buy a full bottle, following the enthusiastic reviews.
The problem was where to buy eau de parfum without buying a counterfeit. Ozon Select proved to be a very convenient option, as Ozon claims to stock only genuine products. To be fair, there are customer reviews from the Ozon store itself, which feature photos of cheap counterfeits.
However, the price played a role, as did the fact that I didn't have to pay for shipping. I'm now thinking that, given the uncertainty of whether I had an original or a fake, it would have been better to pay the higher price. I'll describe the current condition; maybe it will change later, and then I'll update the article.
The box looks great in its cellophane envelope, but if you remove the cellophane, you can see dust, scuffs and fingerprints.
One side contains slang and description.

Chopard pays tribute to millennial royal traditions by preserving and protecting the natural heritage of its ancestors.
Our choices for this Eau de Parfum are a superb range of natural ingredients that are the source of durable goods, reconnecting with artisans and local communities, as well as with people who travel the world.
Throughout the article, I will touch on the originality of this specimen, since I did not find what many reviewers, including Russian-speaking ones, promised.
In this case, the cellophane envelope should be sealed with a round heater. That's right.
The eau de parfum is made in Italy and distributed by the Swiss company PFCH Luxe SA. The ingredient list is simply enormous, including numerous oils.
Also at the bottom is a batch code, which can be entered into the online database to verify the manufacturing date. However, this cannot be verified because the date has been erased.
The QR code for the Honest Sign works, but I don't understand what's stopping someone from selling kerosene as perfume in the Honest Sign and selling it as perfume.
The inside of the box has ribbed paper.
The box lid has an embossed logo.
The presentation looks very simple: a box. Just a box.
The decanter itself is also extremely simple - there is a simple sticker with the name of the company and the perfume water itself.
One of the reasons for doubt is the absence of any inscriptions on the sticker, except for the batch code number.
Not only is there no laser or milled engraving on the bottle, but the sticker itself is also completely blank. I was very surprised when none of the review videos showed the bottom of the bottle. After such a presentation, even if I had the money for Chopard jewelry, I would never have bought it.
The only part that saves the bottle's poor appearance is the lid - it's heavy and well made.
It's clear that some design thought went into the bottle's development, but the lack of attention to detail took away all the glamour from the product.
To be fair, it's worth noting that even in the much higher price range, you can find products with truly poor design. Like, here's a simple container, shaped like an iodine bottle, and inside you'll receive our wondrous miracle.
The sprayer is of absolutely low quality—it's useless. It has no dispersion whatsoever—it sprays water in bunches of droplets of varying sizes over a large area.
I read on the manufacturer's website:
A luxurious addition to the Malaki collection, Malaki Black Incense is Chopard's homage to the millennia-old tradition of royal incense. This rich and powerful incense elixir unfolds with sumptuous layers of vibrant spices, smoky dark woods, and intensely aromatic oils and resins. Its captivating trail, complemented by notes of oud and warm leather, evokes royal fragrant ceremonies and the stirring swirls of burning resins. In keeping with the philosophy of the House of Luxury Naturals Perfumery, the composition is based on exquisite pure incense from Somaliland, blended with a superb selection of sustainably sourced natural ingredients.
Next, I read reviews from Fragrantica and OZON, where users write about wonderful nights in different countries, bliss, and so on.
Then comes the personality disorder. What I see in reality: the scent applied to the blotter immediately triggered a "UGH" reaction in everyone I showed it to. It went from smelling like goats to just plain gross. The scent lingers on the blotter for a long time, but people either carry it away or throw it in the trash.
When applied to the skin, there's an oily slick that simply spills out of the spray bottle. The citrus scent fades within 10 seconds. Then comes the oud and musk, which fade within 10 minutes, and then that's it. EVERYTHING, Karl! There's nothing! They claim it lasts for at least 12 hours. No, it only lasts 10 minutes! And all this from the famous Alberto Morillas?
What can I describe about leather and smoke, about incense and so on, if all of this is not there in 10 minutes.
What conclusions can I make: 1. either this is a low-quality finish 2. or this is just some kind of darkness.
I'll put it to macerate. If anything changes, I'll update the article.
