After testing Mancera Red Tobacco, which left the most terrible impression, I saw videos of reviewers calmly sniffing blotters with Red Tobacco.
I thought the manufacturer had changed something in the perfume formula. To test this, I decided to use the Extrait concentration (perfume) instead of the Red Tobacco Eau de Parfum.
I spent a lot of time searching for information on how to verify the authenticity of Mancera perfumes. There are numerous articles and videos that don't provide any clarity.
For example, it's stated that Mancera perfume boxes have special embossing, but as far as I know, this isn't a problem for illegal businesses.
Nevertheless, there are subtleties that, when combined, allow you to verify the authenticity of the perfume with a high degree of certainty.
For example, the front of the box has a noticeably thick sticker that can be detected even under cellophane, without opening the packaging.
The paint should also shimmer under different lighting angles, from gold to steel. This behavior is difficult to counterfeit, as not only the color but also the thickness of the coating is important.
There's also a sticker on the back of the box with the ingredients. Below that is information including a recycling symbol. The recycling arrow should be uniform across the entire arc, without any thickening toward the tip.
At the bottom of the box is an eleven-digit batch code, the first nine of which are used to verify authenticity. I didn't understand what to do with the four-digit code.
The top of the insert cover is unembossed.
The bottom of the insert cover is embossed.
Mancera perfumes come in a branded pouch.
The bag has the letter M printed all over it.
The top of the bag is tightened with a ribbon.
The braid has a certain looseness and is not as dense as that of fakes.
A patch with the inscription MANCERA PARIS is sewn into the seam of the bag.
On the back there is also the inscription MANCERA PARIS.
The bag is made of thick, hard leatherette.
The bottle also features a sticker made with a special iridescent paint. The bottom of the bottle is crafted with a special gold overlay and a thick layer of glass at the bottom.
The top of the lid features the full Mancera company logo, not just the letter M.
The lid is magnetic and easy to open. Counterfeits have a very strong magnet, making the lid difficult to remove.
The rolled top of the spray bottle does not show any signs of manual processing, unlike the 8 ml bottles.
The spray nozzle is originally made of black plastic.
The mechanical part of the pump has only a small protrusion into the space of the bottle.
The connection between the tube and the pump is flat, not conical.
The first nine digits of the batch code on the box and the bottom of the bottle must match. The inscriptions on the bottom of the bottle are cast in cast iron and clearly legible; they are also easily tactile.
You can also check the bottle's authenticity on myparfumes.ru. You can also find the production date using the first two digits of the batch code.
So, did I notice the difference between Red Tobacco and Intense Red Tobacco? Yes! The difference is enormous. While after half an hour of wearing the eau de parfum, I'd get a headache from the unbearable stench of piano varnish hammering at my brain, and I wanted to wash it away as quickly as possible, in the perfume concentration, I could detect notes of apple and cherry in addition to varnished wood. The varnished wood notes are still there at the beginning, but they quickly give way to a note of pine resin, and in the distance, citrus notes with a hint of Cedrat boise appear. Then comes a comfortable transition into an apple-cherry jammy background that lasts until the end.
This is probably how Red Tobacco was originally intended. It's worth noting that the Extrait version's punch, sillage, and all-pervasive toxicity have been significantly reduced. You can even wear it under a suit without looking like a silly flower bed during spring insemination.
Adding good longevity and a cohesive, unique aroma (which is more like a scent than a stench), the modern version is quite good, even captivating. Oh, and I forgot—there's a hint of honey added.
Definitely masculine! The only exceptions might be women with mental health issues or those hauling railroad ties somewhere in Siberia.
