English (United Kingdom) Clones of T-shaped razors from well-known manufacturers have begun to be sold on Aliexpress under the guise of Chinese razors.
Knowing this freebie wouldn't last long and trying to catch the last hurrah, I bought a Tatara Masamune Nodachi clone. The reviews in the photo showed a clean clone from a Portuguese company, including embossed logos on the machine's baseplate.
Unfortunately or fortunately, I didn’t receive a complete clone of Tatara Masamune Nodachi Matte, but something called Kamfe St12-A12X-Closed.
The sturdy box contained instructions on how to quickly start the razor.
On the back there is a slogan: "Shaving shouldn't be a battle - victory is in your hands."
There are open-comb and closed-comb versions. After reading reviews that the open-comb razor was too aggressive, and watching videos of the original, I decided to get the closed-comb razor.
The razor weighs 114 grams and measures 42 x 25 x 109 mm.
Handle diameter: 12.5 mm.
GAP: 0.9 mm.
The kit includes a pack of Astra blades.
The razor has a sandblasted surface.
The inscriptions on this copy are applied with paint.
The razor is likely manufactured using powder metallurgy, followed by CNC machining and finishing with paint.
The foam outlets are long along the entire length of the slab.
The guide grooves represent the Tatara logo.
I always write that before the first use, the razor must not only be washed, but also disinfected, as this photo shows that the razor has either been used or the emulsion was not washed off after being processed on the machine.
Very unpleasant.
The handle holds well even in wet hands.
The mounting of the plates is not standard - the lower plate has a larger hole and is positioned due to a spherical protrusion on the handle.
Despite the fact that the plates have guides, they have longitudinal play relative to each other.
No other handle will fit this head.
This particular unit makes a creaking noise when tightened. Other users have also experienced the same issue.
Even a new razor shows signs of wear on the handle from the bottom plate. And there's no way to attach a plastic washer for protection, like on regular razors.
When in the box, the razor handle already had traces of soft plush, so there are also doubts about the durability of the coating, since in my opinion it is simply a coating of aluminum powder.
Unlike reviews of the original Tatara Masamune Nodachi Matte razor, where it is classified as a medium-aggressive razor, this one is very gentle, like most Chinese razors.
I can only shave comfortably with Feather blades, but it's important to remember that everyone has their own skin and stubble.
