Despite the big names of the designers of the devices that I have / had on hand, I can’t continue the series of articles Art in the vaping industry part 1.
This article is intended for people over 18 years of age who want to quit smoking!
Why? Because many things in the device don't even qualify as decent design, let alone art.
For example, this famous clone from a famous manufacturer. I don't understand what's so special about it, except for the convenient size.
I needed a mod for the tank, and it had to be small. The SBS format (toilet) is well suited for these parameters, but the choice in Russia is not so great now. Parsons seemed optimal.
The device is declared as premium and created in the traditional collaboration of Vaperz Cloud with Vaping Bogan. There are claims on the Internet that the company Vaperz Cloud comes from the USA, however, the official website directly states that the company is registered in England and Wales, registration number: 10401078. Legal address: 594 Kingstanding Road, B44 9SH.
However, you won't see Made in USA or Made in UK on the box or the device. The corner of the box clearly states that the device is made in China.
Like everything Chinese, there are some attempts to create a premium, but the roots are visible everywhere. The same with the box - there is a semblance of the iQOS box, but this is a completely different level. This is neither craft nor premium.
In defense, it can be said that the box is strong and even has a layer to protect against scratches.
There is a manual that will help you with the first steps with the device.
The kit also includes spare parts: a spring, screws and a plastic sticker.
Most likely, spare parts should be in a small second box.
However, in the box lies the shame of the developers, manufacturers and generally everyone who has anything to do with this device - this is the notorious Chinese USB stub. You will not find a logo on it, you will not find a braid; it is not even a normal size to be used for anything other than a trash can.
But there is black heat shrink film for crimping the battery.
Let's move on to the device itself. It is stated that this is the only 18650 device made of aircraft aluminum. How duralumin can give a device a premium look is not entirely clear, due to its low corrosion resistance. But interesting operational properties appear - the device is not as heavy as the Billet Box, it cools well, and has beautiful thick walls that inspire confidence.
I am not the first owner of the SBS Parsons sbs dna80 mod and scratches are visible on the polished surface, although the seller assured that the mod was in a store condition. It is quite possible that the Chinese sell devices already scratched, especially since scratches on aluminum will sit just from a gust of light wind.
One of the advantages of the Parsons sbs dna80 SBS mod is the presence of a Type-C port, with which you can charge the device with a charging current of 2 A or control the device, as well as update the firmware.
The through grille, which is typical for this tandem, has the main function of collecting dust and dirt from everything possible.
Not only do I not find anything worth writing about in this design, but numerous reviewers had a distinctly sour expression on their faces when reviewing this device. They probably expected something more sophisticated.
The fit is stated for a tank diameter of 26 millimeters. During testing, this is what happened. Condensation collects under the tank. The area under the tank is not scratched.
The dimensions of the Parsons sbs dna80 are: 77mm x 47.5mm x 26.5mm.
For good contact, there is a toothed nut that securely holds the battery.
The use of a CNC machine in production is stated, but in addition to this, very precise casting is visible.
There is no room for criticism regarding the quality of the parts.
The button deserves special attention - it clicks clearly, does not wobble, does not rattle. The work of this button can be taken as a standard for other devices.
Also, we can't help but praise the device's screen - attention, a ONE-INCH color screen with a large font, not overloaded with all sorts of garbage and which is easy to read in the sun. This is also simply a standard for other devices!
In addition, conveniently located buttons, not somewhere in the back of the device, but where they should be, add comfort when setting up.
For Parsons sbs dna80, even tanks with side airflow like Bishop are installed well.
The mod itself is even smaller in size than Plonq Meta Lite.
There are several comfortable positions when using the device.
You can hold it with your ring and middle fingers.
You can also hold it with your middle and index fingers.
In one of the options you can even get stealth use.
Conclusion: a solid, quality device without any hint of premium. A kind of workhorse at a great price ($110).
Why doesn't SBS Parsons cause a wow effect? Because such quality of workmanship and convenience should be available from every manufacturer! It's just what you expect.
In my understanding, art or the premium segment is products like those from PAROVAR.
Particular emphasis is placed on the latest chipset Evolv DNA80c, which will satisfy not only ordinary users, but also geeks, but this requires a separate article.
If you don't expect an aesthetic shock every time you pick up the device, then I highly recommend it.
